A group of 9 foster agencies (IFCC) in Edmonton who have created a committee and received funding for a campaign. The goal was to recruit foster families/caregivers in Edmonton.
What is the problem(s) we needed to solve?
• In Edmonton there is a deficit of foster families. Current families are aging out and there are few families in the queue to step in and take their places.
• In Edmonton there is a deficit of foster families. Current families are aging out and there are few families in the queue to step in and take their places.
• Educating on misunderstandings about the foster system. The system can be seen as evil. The good that the agencies do is sometimes overshadowed by the act of “removing kids from their homes.”
• Fostering is not in fact “removing kids from their homes.” At least, we want this perception changed. Now the goal of fostering is to help the family with their healing process and the foster caregivers are the bridge to help get them back on track.
